About Tamika

The daughter of a registered nurse and machine operator, and the granddaughter of a teacher, Mrs. Washington learned firsthand the benefits of hard work and integrity. She learned at an early age to advocate on behalf of others, and that the purpose of rules and regulations is to improve people’s lives.

Tamika Washington has spent her career advocating for the voiceless and serving the needs of the community. During her service as a Philadelphia Assistant City Solicitor, she successfully litigated hundreds of cases involving experts in the physical and mental well-being of children and their families. Ms. Washington has tried hundreds of cases in local and federal courts over the course of her career. She has frequently served as arbitration chair, or as Arbitration Judge Pro Tempore, for the Court of Common Pleas for over ten years. Ms. Washington is named to the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania’s Pro Bono Roll of Honor for her representation of clients who could not afford legal services. At her law firm, Law Offices of Tamika Washington, P.C., she has worked tirelessly on behalf of clients in the areas of employment civil rights, real estate, and probate law. 

Ms. Washington is dedicated to enriching the community. She is the co-founder of the Legal Ministry at Sharon Baptist Church in Philadelphia, where she addresses the legal needs of the congregation and the surrounding community and seeks to educate the community on legal resources. As a Peggy Browning Fund Fellow, Ms. Washington worked with a local union on a collective bargaining agreement for a major city project. Since 2010, she has worked with Philadelphia VIP to provide pro bono services for clients who cannot otherwise afford an attorney. She serves on the board of My Place Germantown, a non-profit organization that provides permanent housing for the disabled homeless. 

Ms. Washington is a graduate of Temple University School of Law, and her children have been educated in Philadelphia schools. As an attorney who has served clients in courts across Philadelphia, from civil courts to criminal and orphans’ courts, Ms. Washington possesses the fundamental principles of respect, integrity, fairness, and compassion required to make decisions affecting the citizens of Philadelphia.
